Yeh shaam mastani madhoosh kiye jaye.. la la la la.
Humari somvaar shaam aur haseen hui dosto ke sath
Ok , after the #hindiswag visited Cafe Rettro, Baner ( slightly ahead of Way Down South ) with my gang .My childhood friend was home after a long time , so all I wanted is a place where we can hog & have endless conversations for long …plus rooftop being my fav- it was the bang on spot.
However, her requirement was a place which is beautifully lit .. no no it wasn’t preferring ambience over food- The sole reason was clicking some supercool selfies.
So, deal done !
What comes to your mind when you hear the word retro ? ( minus the extra ‘T’ )
It’s enjoying your evening with some best music tracks from the evergreen times, ambience which gels with the theme and maybe some magic with the lights !
This place offers you the first part .. remember yeh shaam mastani … la la la ? ambience is a rooftop restro with 7-8 tables lit up with some bright yellow lights.
I expected the punch to be more here…
Nevertheless, it’s D place to chill with your gang, and a dinner date with your love works well too.
Coming to food, we started the meal with staple order of masala papad , it had a tinge of lemon juice too and we were all eager for our next order.
We generally have the habit of ordering food or I must say eyeing food served to both our adjacent tables and we did a 360 degree research( yeah, 3 of us in the team – effectiveness was obvious )
Result – Every table had a pizza !
Without wasting time, rettro special veg pizza was our choice.
Special mention they make the pizza LIVE in a stone oven – it’s a thin crust pizza with loads of cheese .. mama mia! fresh cottage cheese, olives, brocoli , chilli peppers both red & yellow – it was yummilicious – have it when its hot as it’s a thin crust pizza.
Next in the table was paneer tikka masala , we asked the staff to avoid serving us the regular version of this dish and we were amazed with the flavours – it was different and nicely cooked in tomato purée with onion & capsicum gravy with large chunks of paneer and not to forget the garnishing- loved it . But, they have limited options to select, it’s not really a place offering loads of variations.
We had this with kulcha which was slightly burnt , the team was generous to quickly replace it with hot kulcha. We also ordered dal tadka – the aroma of the tadka called for jeera rice too and within no time the jeera rice made in ghee with red chilli, cumin seeds tadkewali dal was our next fav.
My friend ( third in the gang ) who avoids rice at night , yeah surrounded by some diet freak peeps too.. he loved the dal – rice and then it’s all happily ever after.
My childhood friend had an awesome time clicking supercool selfies and I loved the food.
By the end of the looongggg conversations, crazy pics & good food 3 souls were happy to say ‘ hanste hanste kat jaye , zindagi yuhi chalti rahe’ …
Anu’s verdict :
You can do wonders with this theme somehow the punch was missing
Service – 3/5
Takes about 15-20 mins for every dish to be served, maybe they can improve the delivery mechanism
They were efficient
They need to have some more options to choose especially in the veg pizza & indian cuisine section
I’m definitely going back to try out the tandoor items & kebabs
PS- Pics clicked by diet freak amateur photographer.
